Is your wine too cold?

The average temperature of a standard refrigerator is 37 degrees. A white or rosé wine’s best temperature is around 55 degrees. That’s a big difference! Cold mutes all the special nuances a wine has, so of course you don’t like it. Champagne is the one exception-the colder the better! There are many good wine chillers on the market that can be regulated to keep your wine at the perfect temp. However, a lot of us don’t have the space or the inclination to install one of these into our home. So, try a white wine again, but don’t drink it straight from the fridge. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes before pouring a glass. My guess is that your opinion will change and you will find that white and rosé wines have all the interesting and unique flavors that your favorite red wine has.
